About Cate

Cate Phillips is a seasoned hand knitter and pattern designer. She learnt to knit as a child under the tutelage of her aunt and rediscovered the joy of knitting as a student in her early 20s.

Cate completed a Diploma of Visual Arts in 2016. With an educational background centred on visual culture her patterns are often inspired by art history, traditional techniques and classic knitwear styles but with an innovative contemporary twist.

Cate's portfolio includes a series of self-published patterns on platforms such as Ravelry and Etsy. Additionally, she has participated in the Independent Designer Program run by Bendigo Woollen Mills creating hand knitting patterns that showcase Bendigo’s heritage yarns in designs that appeal to modern knitters.

Beyond knitting, Cate loves to spend time learning and honing her other crafts, including sewing, spinning, shoemaking and of course visual art.
